OCR: ERA Documentation for Version 1.0.0 by Greg Epley Copyright (c) 1987 Insight Software Development *(tm) ERA is a date/time/calendar setting and display utility which allows you to easily set the date and time, as well as having a handy calendar. The display and format is much easier to use and nderstand than the equivalent CLI 'Date' command. In addition, this utility can remain active for your entire computer session with it's USE mode, which updates the date/time/calendar We would like to hear feedback from all (or at least some) in real time. of the users of this utility, to find out how you like it, so let s know! Some great improvements are already in the works! ERA will run from the CLI or Workbench +(tm). You should copy it onto a standard Workbench +(tm) disk (we suggest you install it in the 'c' directory for easy access). An icon is included and should be copied along with the program (this icon should not be rename the icon file from 'Era. inf' edited it is part of the program package). You may have to to 'Era. info'. on the icon to run ERA from the Workbench +(tm). If you want to Click twice run the program from the CLI, enter the name "era" at the CLI prompt (remember to press RETURN). When the program runs, you will see a window display with a close gadget, slider" five proportional gadgets for setting the parts of the date and time, SET gadget, a USE gadget, a display of the current date and time n text, and the current month's calendar with the current day highlighted. The valid range of the date in this program is from January 1, 1978 - December 31, 2045. This is close to the range f the system date (the system date will display via the 'Date' command from midnight, January 2, 1978 to midnight, January 18, 2046). Any values outside this range will produce Of course, using this program, you don't have to worry <invalid> or <unset>. about that. ERA will begin in SET mode, which allows you to adjust the five proportional gadgets and set the date and/or time. Refer to your your 'Introduction to Amiga' manual on the scroll bar if you don't know how to use proportional gadgets. Assuming you have set the date and time the way you want it, you will want to tell the system to accept your settings. Selecting the USE mode (click on the USE gadget), will set the system date/time to your settings. The proportional gadgets will ghost at this point, and the date/time and calendar displays will update in real time. You can do one of two things at this point: select SET mode (click on the SET gadget) and set new date/time values, or click on the close gadget (in the upper left corner of the window) to exit ERA. The only way to end the program at any time is to select the close gadget. You can move between SET and USE mode as often as jou wish; the SET mode only allows you to set new values for the date and time; the USE mode will set the system date to the new values and update the displays in real time.
